ouch!

Well, here we are at another stage....biting! Last night was pretty good, minimal fit pitching and only 1 time out for biting me on the butt! Yes, you read that right, she was not happy with me and walked right up behind me while I was cooking dinner and about took a chuck out of my right butt cheek. Um, hello...that was not pleasant. We are trying to not spank because she is becoming more aggressive with us and the dogs, so we are trying to teach her not to hit. She has taken to biting herself, which I tell her is fine, she is just going to hurt herself, but not to bite others. And she can throw with the best of them...and the force behind it is unbelievable. I am going to have to start watching her more, that's for sure.

Her sentences are starting to form more and more. Her big thing now is "No walk." We just have to walk away from her and let her cry. Eventually she follows us to where ever we are going, but not after letting us know how unhappy she is with that decision. Oh, and she points to us and says "Shhh." We will tell her no about something and she will whip around and point that finger and go "shh, mommy" or "shhh, Daddy." It is so funny. It's a bad habit, but it is so hard not to laugh at it. She does tell us that we are either nice or not nice depending on the situation. She doesn't say "sorry" yet, but she will give you a hug if you tell her to say "sorry." I tell you, it is toooo much.

That's about it for our world. Have a great rest of the day.

Later, peeps!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILIA!!!!!

I love this picture...it just reminds me of how simple fun can be...a baby pool and a cup! Well, Emilia is now 2! I couldn't blog yesterday, on her actual birthday, because of the "I have to be with Mommy at ALL times" stage that we are in right now. I can't believe that my baby is 2! It was a VERY low key day, spent mostly in the nude, Emilia, not us.... We opened presents and had cake for lunch, after all it is HER birthday! She got her afternoon nap and then it was out to play in the pool and with the Elmo bubble blower and the lawnmower...then I guess she got tired of the heat and decided to come....thank goodness! Of course, we celebrated Father's Day as well, and today is Ricky's birthday, so we grilled out Saturday and Sunday, had some D-E-LICIOUS food! Some steaks, goody girl potatoes, grilled veggie skewers and Sister Schubert rolls....hellllll yeah! (I had to stick a little redneck in there)
We went to the 2 year well baby visit today...boy, was that fun! It got so bad when we were trying to weigh her and measure her that the Dr. came out of his office to check on her. Lawd have mercy on me....the tantrums are at their peak......so says the Dr. Dear lord, I hope he is right. She is right on track, in the 25th percentile, she is around 25 lbs., they had to take my word on that one since we couldn't get an accurate weight and she is 33 1/4 inches tall, her head as grown, it is now in the 25th percentile, having been in the 10th percentile and she is in great health. Still no ear infections. She does still have fluid in them, but no infection so we are thankful for that. No more shots for 3 years...woohoo! She got her last Hep A booster today and does not have to come back until after her next birthday. Yea!!!!!
Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from yesterday.

Happy Tuesday!

I am so glad to be back at work! Sometimes I wonder why the Lord made me a mother!

Emilia had a tummy bug this weekend and let me say.....THAT WAS NO FUN!!!!! The poor thing couldn't even keep Tylenol down to help with the fever. It wasn't the virus that bothered me, it was the having to keep her home yesterday and being in limbo between being fine and being sick....the grouchiness, the whining, the clinginess, the not wanting to be touched....the damn dogs! Ugh! I tell you...bless my heart. I was having a hard time yesterday. Thank goodness the fever broke and the vomiting stopped and she was able to go back to daycare today. I love her, she is priceless, but oh....my....goodness....I need a vacation.

In other news, I found out today that one of my dearest friend's father passed away last week. Of course, she is one of my dearest friends, yet I find out about this A WEEK LATER....shame on you Amber! I know you had a ton going on, but let a girl know when you need her! I would have come a runnin'! You and your family are in my prayers! Love you, girl!

In my family news, my parent's got a new member of their household. My Great, Great, Aunt Toni and her cat, Cindy, moved in with my mom and dad this past weekend. Yes folks, that is 2 "greats." Aunt Toni is 93, I can only hope that I make it that long. My Uncle Bud (96) and Aunt Toni (93) came up here about a month ago to stay in a nursing home to be closer to my mom and dad since my mom is the closest relative. Uncle Bud passed away a couple of weeks ago. He was 96. He and Aunt Toni were married 71 years. I can't imagine living for that long, much less being married for that long. I am excited to take Emilia to meet Aunt Toni. I regret that Uncle Bud never got a chance to meet her, but at least Aunt Toni will.

I guess that is it for me today. T-4 days until Miss Emilia is 2 years old! She is getting some good stuff for her birthday. I can't wait to post pictures. She is getting a tricycle for her big birthday present. She is going to love it! I can't wait to see the look on her face.

Have a great rest of the day! Later, peeps!

the power of a table

It is amazing what a dining room table can do.

It, more often than not, is the catch all spot for most families, and for mine as well. For so long we had not used the one we had and then we got rid of it in 2007 and just used TV trays and sat in front of the TV and ate dinner. Ricky and I wouldn't talk very much during dinner time, we were to busy being occupied by the TV...and dinner really should be family time. As I have mentioned in the previous post, a friend gave us a dining room table when we moved into the house and I have to say that I have enjoyed it so much. Granted, half of it has junk on it, but we can all see each other when we eat and actually talk....imagine that. We have only eaten there a handful of times since we have only been in the house 2 weeks and had the table up for 1, but it has been so nice to have face to face time. Maybe this will make us get along better. Things have been so stressed with the move and everything else that has been going on. I find it just so refreshing to be able to sit down and have "family time." No rushing, not much fussing, discussing the day.....like you see on TV. I have missed that, more than I realized. I guess I am just feeling like I am becoming an adult. Who knew a dining room table could that.

Happy Hump Day peeps....later!

Monday randoms

Emilia LOVES her new big girl table! We were lucky enough to have a friend give us a table for the new house. It is, by far, the fanciest thing in the house, but that's okay. We put it together one night after Em had gone to bed and the next night she had to sit at it....bye-bye high chair!!! I can't tell you how excited I am about that! So, here she is, her first meal at the big girl table...pork chop, blacked eyed peas and bananas. We did get her a booster seat this week, so she can eat and drink comfortably now. i couldn't even find the phone books for her to sit on, so that was a priority this weekend, for sure!

Well, Ricky and I made it another year without killing each other. Yesterday was our 6 year anniversary! Ricky's mom came over on Saturday to babysit so we could get out and do some shopping that we needed to do. Then for our anniversary dinner, we ordered pizza....what better way to celebrate, right???? It was very low key, we didn't even get each other a card, and it was nice. Yesterday, our actual anniversary, we worked around the house, Emilia had no nap and I was drinking by 6, so at least we had a good time on Saturday.

Two more weeks and my baby girl will be 2 years old! Where did the last 2 years go???? Seriously! She has blossomed so much in the last few months, it's crazy! She now is going through the stages of not listening, deliberately disobeying and "NO!" is her favorite word, "No Mommy, go away" is her favorite phrase. She is into everything....EVERYTHING! Yesterday I was thinking that I was an unfit mother, she had me in such a tizzy. I wanted to beat her senseless!!! She is definitely becoming more independent too...she now picks out her own clothes and can do all sorts of things by herself...and has to do them by herself. She is a mess!

Well, I guess I need to get back to work. Have a great week party peeps.... See ya later!

summer is coming!

It's that time again...the time to get delish fresh fruits and veggies from Farmer's Markets and people at work. I just picked up two absolutely beautiful cucumbers and a jar of fresh homemade spicy pickles from a girl at work. She also has some potatoes, but I passed on those. There is also a guy at work that has made an offer to the entire office to share the bounties of his garden with us for a small contribution to help offset the cost of seeds and fertilizer and such. I think that I am going to take him up on that and get my fresh produce from him. I love summer for that reason....I can walk down to Harvest Thyme and get a "Mother's Nature's Best," which is a huge bowl of fresh fruit topped with a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt and granola. Mmmmm, yum! I can eat a cucumber and some ranch dressing for lunch or dinner. We can have a simple pasta salad for dinner....all the easy stuff comes in summer, right along with the heat. I look forward to that aspect of the summer. It is hard to believe that it is here again.

I'mmmm baaaack!

What a crazy 10 days I just had, but I am happy to say that we are in our new house and no longer renters...woohoo! Our week started out pretty crazy, to say the least. We met our realtor at the house at 9 on Tuesday for the final walk through and the owner was still there packing up the last of her stuff. (WHAT!) She claimed that her realtor told her just the day before that she had to be out by Tuesday at 10 a.m. when we went to our closing. We went to the closing at 10, which didn't start till around 10:45....lots of sitting around, waiting. The movers came first thing Wednesday morning and got the majority of stuff over in the new house....in the rain. It all ended up in the garage. We had to make SEVERAL more trips to the house to get the rest of the stuff and didn't finish with everything until Thursday night. The rain slowed us down quite a bit. The cleaners came on Thursday for the move out clean, which was a mess in and of it itself...I'll spare you the story and just say that they ended up coming back over on Friday to re clean my house....the right way. While they were finishing up the clean, GRU came over and turned of the electric and the water, so they had to finish in the dark and the heat, which it was 11:30 in the morning, so they could see, but they couldn't vacuum, they had to sweep and then mop...luckily, I assume, they had already gotten the water for the mopping. We turned in our keys at noon and said "goodbye" to rentals for what hope to be forever! OH! And in the middle of all this, my car decided to blow up....not catch on fire, but there was smoke, and the ENT called about Emilia's appointment for tubes. That really threw a monkey wrench in our plans. We got it done though, and on time. We got a lot of unpacking done on Friday, thanks to my MIL for coming over and helping. Saturday we got more done, but not a lot and Sunday I just hit a wall and could not go anymore. I think I got 2 boxes unpacked on Sunday, that's it. Emilia and the dogs made an almost seamless transition. My dad came over and patched up our fence (THANK YOU) so that the pooties could run around freely...they love their new yard, and we do too! There is much less barking and we are so happy about that. Emilia loves her new room...and loves to run in there and get her stuff out. She has been a big help in unpacking too....really, she has. She gets stuff out of the box and hands it to me...she was my little helper on Saturday.

Speaking of Emilia, we are in the throws of potty training and it is driving me crazy! "Pee-pee potty" allllllll the time, all the time, whether she has to or not. She did go poopy in the potty this weekend though, for the first time. One also slipped out on the floor too, later that day. I try to let her run around without pants on when we are at home, even though Ricky hates it. He's not the one that has to take her to the bathroom every 5 minutes. We are now in the pull ups, we are trying the cool alert ones...sometimes she doesn't seem to mind them though, which pisses me off since she is supposed to be annoyed by it and run to the potty. Oh well, it is a work in progress and we will get there. I am just so proud of her for starting this so early. She will be 2 this month...where does the time go???? I can't believe it. She is getting soooo big. I love her so much!
